Each one takes place during a different operation, from Operation Husky to bringing down Der Flakturm in Germany. paratrooper, who participates in six different missions. The plot focuses around Boyd Travers, a U.S. Airborne employs a nonlinear gameplay style whereby the player can start the game anywhere in the map by directing where they land, as opposed to previous linear FPS games where the start point and direction is already laid out, such as Allied Assault. The game uses a massively improved version of Unreal Engine 3. In February 2023 EA announced the shutdown of Airborne multiplayer server across all platforms, 15 years after the title's launch. Airborne also features a multiplayer mode available for online play, where users have the choice of fighting for the Allies and parachuting down to the battlefield, or fighting for the Axis and starting on the ground, defending the position from enemy paratroopers. Missions include various insertions into Italy, northern France, the Netherlands and Germany, each one beginning with a jump behind enemy lines, and success requiring completion of given objectives. In the single-player mode, the player takes on the role of PFC/CPL Boyd Travers, a fictional paratrooper in the US 82nd Airborne Division. I remember liking those games.Medal of Honor: Airborne is a World War II first-person shooter computer game and the 11th installment of the Medal of Honor series. Maybe there will be better levels later on but I watched a video review just now and I'm not keeping my hopes up.Įdit: I played original Medal of Honor, Allied Assault, Spearhead and Call of Duty 1. It goes smooth when you get control over your character and destructible environment and debris probably has 15 fps. For some reason when your team mate is speaking at the start of the level the game is jittery like hell. The automatic weapons have very limited ammo. Then, I went back and there were still the same enemy soldiers and the guys were shooting at them whole time. There were two enemy soldiers ahead then. Once I carried a guy out of fire, called the medic. They run in front of you when you're shooting. They try to take the same cover as you all the time. I got stuck in the scenery for no reason often. The game's own brightness is bad because it gives the washed out look to everything. I upped my brightness on my monitor to the max and it still is hard to see in the jungle. It looked much better that way but crashes when trying to place a bomb on the beat up jalopies at the tutorial.įirst few levels are like chase and turret sections. I also had to add a custom config file to enable AA because those edges are jaggier than a saw.
